Those meaningful coincidences are so meaningful! I’ve not heard anything like these. It leaves me wondering if some people attract “ coincidences”more than others. I agree with you that in that synchronicity the power of connection and love are abundant!
Decades ago, I was on-set for my first (small) role for an NBC MOW (Movie of the Week).
The producer pointedly asked me to “Stay put right here. Do not talk to anyone. We will call you when we are ready.”
A dear friend was sitting with me, as she had accompanied me to the set. After only a minute or two, a curvy young woman with blond hair walked in front of where my friend and I, were seated. “I have to go talk to her. She will know about voice-overs…”
(At that time, I had just completed a course in Voice Over work)
“Lisa! [Producer] Barry Bernardi just asked you to stay here!”
“The feeling is overwhelming; I have to go talk to her…”
It’s important to note that this is in Santa Monica, California. I’d never, ever, even been in the state of California before, so I didn’t know ANYone…
So I walk confidently up to this woman (I later realized I broke every rule of on-set protocol by doing this!) and said,
“Hi! My name is Lisa. Can you tell me something about Voice Overs?”
Laughing, she smiled and said,
“Okay, *who* sent you?!”
“No, no one sent me. I’ve never been here before. I just came to California, yesterday.”
“Wait, what?”
“Barry asked me to wait over there, but when you walked by, I felt something…”
“Well, I just quit a few days ago, Lisa, but for seven and a half years, I was in-charge of casting for Hanna-Barbera!”
“Oh my gosh!”
“Hey, Lisa, hold my hands. Close your eyes. What do you see?!”
“What? I don’t understand.”
“I’m going to Vegas this weekend, Lisa…what numbers do you see?”
“Um, I don’t see any; I don’t think it works this way…”
I ended up going with her to see her Manhattan Beach apartment; she practically BEGGED me to room with her!
She began telling me that her “friend, Penny Marshall, is doing a movie about a baseball league for women. I’ll introduce you to her. I know she’d love your energy, Lisa…Madonna is going to be in it!”
I wish I’d been more *receptive* to all this largesse on her part (the woman’s name was Marie Varni (unsure of spelling) and she asked if I knew who Penny Marshall was.
I explained I wasn’t sure, as she detailed that she’d been one half of “Laverne & Shirley”, a tv show.
I explained that I wasn’t athletic, and why was Madonna doing a film about…baseball?
I refused to move to L.A. to be Marie’s roommate and I came home to Atlanta, but Wowsers Wowsie Wow Wow!
Anyway, it marked one of many, many, many times that a very specific, *inexplicable* synchronicity would occur for me.
And during the times I was ready to “receive”, the results were always….remarkable.
Mom told me “don’t tell anyone what you can do; they’ll think you’re crazy.” This was after I told her I wouldn’t go to my Girl Scout meeting because “something bad is going to happen, Mom.” My left elbow felt hot and I told her it meant something bad. She told me I was being silly, and drove me to our meeting, which was held outside in a local park. A few minutes into the meeting of us 10-12 year old girls, we heard a loud scream. One of the girls had been dragged off into the woods— by her left elbow!— by a man, and attacked! She was pretty shaken up, but we found her after he escaped!
That had NEVER happened before; it never happened again, because after that, we met up only inside buildings, for our monthly meeting!
Sigmund Freud firmly believed that there is no such thing as a true coincidence. He argued that events typically dismissed as "chance" are actually manifestations of psychological determinism, driven by our hidden, unconscious desires, anxieties, and motives.Freud outlined this concept in his classic work, The Psychopathology of Everyday Life. I was never much of a fan of Freud. I think Carl Jung took all the best from his teachings and added his own excellent wisdom. So yes, I agree. And I LOVED YELLOW, BTW.
